For NC State students, every machine we sell is eligible to receive support from our on-campus, manufacturer authorized, OIT Walk-In Center. Priority access to loaner computers is available when needed. Hardware support is provided on a walk-up basis Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. Hardware, software and network support are also available by phone or online at the NC State Help Desk by calling 919-515-HELP (4357) or by visiting the IT HELP site.
If you can’t get to campus, you have full access to Apple, Dell or Lenovo manufacturer warranty service anywhere in the United States. Please be sure to have your serial number handy in order to access your extended warranty coverage.
Warranties: What's Recommended, What's Included, and Why?
Students take their computers everywhere and they get damaged at a much higher rate than is typical for most users. A single drink spill repair can cover the cost of an extended warranty. A drop often results in a repair or replacement costing three to four times the cost of an extended warranty.
NC State strongly recommends that all new computers have an extended warranty and accidental damage protection. Theft coverage is also recommended and can often be added to a homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy.
Extended warranties are normally an additional cost at the time of purchase. Cost is based on the purchase price of the computer and plans usually start around $200 for three to four years of coverage. Extended warranty plans range from simple support and repair plans to plans that include accidental damage coverage
What's included with my computer purchase from Wolfpack Outfitters?
Lenovo computers include an extended three year warranty with accidental damage coverage, battery replacement and keep-your-hard-drive. The Lenovo warranty is a depot warranty which means repairs that cannot be completed at the Walk-In Center are shipped to a Lenovo repair center at no charge to the customer.
Dell computers include an extended three year warranty with accidental damage coverage and keep-your-hard-drive. The Dell warranty is an onsite warranty which means that Dell will dispatch a technician to the Walk-In Center or your location.
Apple computers come with a one year warranty standard. Due to the minimalist design of Apple laptops and iPads, a 3-year extended warranty and accidental damage coverage (Applecare+) is bundled with every MacBook and iPad purchase.
AppleCare+ extends coverage to three years and adds two incidents of accidental damage coverage.
