The doctorate gown is produced from a high quality material which resists fading and wrinkling. It is all black, with bell sleeves featuring three horizontal velvet bands. A strip of velvet runs the length of the gown on the front along the sides of the zipper. The traditional black velvet tam features six corners, and comes in standard fitted hat sizes. Tassles are uniformly Old Gold across all departments. However, the hood will be indicative of the university and department from which your degree is conferred. For example: the red and white inside of the hoods pictured are for NC State University. Likewise, the actual colors on the inside of the hood you receive will be representative of the university that awarded your degree.
